Gamla - Chorazin - Capernaum

This morning we visited the ancient Jewish city of Gamla. It's mentioned in "The Jewish War" by Josephus Flavius the Jewish historian of the first century. Just outside of Gamla we saw the graves of giants as tall as 15 feet, probably the Anakim mentioned in Numbers 13, Deuteronomy 1:28 & 9:2. It sheds some light on the "David and Goliath" event, too! This photo shows the 2 ends of the grave.

You can see the ruins of the city of Gamla here, it's known as the "Masada" of the north.

From above Gamla, there are dozens of huge vultures that live here and were circling overhead. They eat the corpses of the dead, these birds are as big as a man and have a wingspan of about 12 feet! Probably the vultures mentioned in the book of Revelation.

This is the entrance to the synagogue in the city of Chorazin. It's one of the towns Jesus cursed for their lack of faith as recorded in Matthew 11:20-24 and Luke 10:13-15.

Last we visited Capernaum. This is most likely where Jesus lived during his ministry in the Galilee. Peter's house is located here by the Sea of Galilee as well as a synagogue where Jesus most likely taught. This is a side view of the remains of the synagogue.

Just outside the synagogue are the ruins of the city of Capernaum.
