Akko - Haifa - Bet She'arim - Bethlehem Galilee

This is the apartment building where our friend Danny Ben-gigi's mother lives and where he grew up in Nahariyya.

These shots are looking north at Akko from a beach area between Akko and Haifa (to the south).

Some of the many beautiful wildflowers in Israel.

This is a photo of the Carmel Mountain Range, the range is actually about 40 miles in length, we generally think of it as Mount Carmel which doesn't reflect its actual size. The tower on the right is the University of Haifa.

A nice shot of the Jezreel Valley.

We visited the site of Bet She'arim where there's an ancient synagogue that's been uncovered.

We went to a town called Bethlehem of the Galilee, not the Bethlehem where Jesus was born which is in the south (Judea) but the one in Northern Israel. This church dates back 100 years to the early 20th century. It was built by German Christians who settled in Bethlehem Galilee.

We visited an herb and spice farm at Bethlehem Galilee where the aroma was out-of-this-world.

Some of the spice fields shown here. In the distance at the right side you can see the city of Nazareth built upon the hill.

The green hill in this photo is a tel with ruins dating back to the 1st Century (the time of Jesus) buried beneath. You can see some excavation of stones from the city wall in this photo.

We were able to meet and spend some time with Aviram Oshri, a Senior Archeologist with the Israel Antiquities Authority. He is the archaeologist who has done the most work in this northern Bethlehem find.

This is the inside of a storage room discovered in Bethlehem Galilee.

The long mosaic displayed on the left hangs at Ben Gurion Airport where you fly into Israel. It was found in a 6th Century church uncovered by Aviram here at Bethlehem Galilee.
